MITCHELL, WILLIAM (BILL) PARK - Passed away peacefully on January 22, 2013 at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Laurie (Todd) Bowman; step daughter, Shannon (Rob) Peppinck; grandsons, Josh and Jack; mother in law, Connie Rose; brother in law, Blaine Rose. He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret. Bill was born in Michel, B.C. He later moved to Calgary where he worked in the Oil industry for many years before retiring to Penticton. Bill enjoyed many things in life, including being a square dance caller in his early years, a poet, an artist, an instructor, a photographer, a card and game player and above all, a golfer and a pool and snooker player. He was a member of the Penticton Golf and Country Club for many years where he loved golfing with the "Monday Morning Moaners" and the "Thursday Boys". KRASNUIK, John 1918 - 2013 Passed away peacefully at the age of 94, on January 27, 2013. He was born on November 29, 1918 in Stuartburn, MB. John spent his early years in Sundown, MB and married Nettie Evankevich; they married, worked their farm and raised nine children. He retired in Kelowna, BC where he enjoyed his favourite activities; walking, riding his bicycle and going out to the forest to cut his own firewood. His garden was his pride and he loved to boast how he got the grand kids to pick the weeds; garlic and tomatoes became his specialty. John was a "one of a kind man" who will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children; George (Shirley), Sonja, Luba, Elizabeth (Tom), Russell (Melodie), Theresa, Marilyn (Roger), Elaine (Garry), his sister Helen Balla, 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. MILLER, Phyllis Elizabeth Born December 8, 1927, in Cudworth, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Kelowna General Hospital on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the age of 85. Phyllis was predeceased by her loving husband, A. Les Miller of 64 years, her sister Marion Mason and her brother Ralph Schmidt. Phyllis leaves behind her sons Keith (Donna) Miller of Salmon Arm, and Ron Miller (Jann Cogswell) of Vancouver. Her grandchildren, Les (Sarah) Miller of Coquitlam and Rebecca Miller of Kamloops. Phyllis also leaves behind her sisters Lucille Hunter of New Westminster and Rosemarie Morgan of Toronto and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis worked for over 25 years as a nurse's aide and then a physiotherapist's aide in the lower mainland and retired to Westbank with Les in the early 70's. From there they moved into Kelowna. EPP, CHRIS It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Chris Epp on January 24, 2013. Jonathan Christopher Epp was born in Swan River, Manitoba on October 1, 1958. He moved to Red Deer Alberta, then to Abbotsford BC and eventually settling in Penticton. Chris was predeceased by his mother, Mabel Epp and infant brother, Brian Epp. He is survived by his father Erdman Epp, sister Brenda Yirka (family David, Carmen and Catherine), brother James Epp (family Vanessa, Michael, David and Timothy), his son, Jim McKitrick (family Veronica and Rosemary); his daughter Bridget Gillberg (family Mike, Adam, Emma and Logan), the mother of Jim & Bridget, Marianne Conci, and MacTavish, his beloved pet. Chris was an innovative entrepreneur in the RV manufacturing and RV retail industry for most of his life. DOVELL, RHEONA (nee OUIMET) Our beloved wife and mother, Rheona, left us suddenly on January 21st 2013, at the age of 84. She leaves behind her family, including husband Jim, daughters Lynn Zdan (Peter), Janice Rempel (Rob), and Wendy Bastiaanssen (John), as well as her cherished grandchildren Torie, Piers, Kyle, Lindsay, Julia, Gabrielle and Caroline. Rheona also leaves extended family in Ottawa, and other parts of Canada. Rheona was born in Cyrville, Ontario on July 23, 1928. She and Jim married in 1955 and lived in Ottawa, Saskatchewan, and later Winnipeg, where they raised their daughters and developed many close friendships. Rheona was proud of her work for Bell Telephone in Ottawa and later had a successful career as a Personnel Manager at Woolco in Winnipeg. After retirement, she and Jim chose to settle in Penticton BC in 1991, and soon Rheona established another circle of devoted friends and volunteered at the Care Closet in her spare time. ORR, Gladys Myrtle Mother-Grandmother-Great Grandmother Gladys passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Springvalley Care Center on January 24th, 2013 at the age of 90 years. She is survived by her daughters Myrtle (Don) Bell, Connie (Bob) Brown, Beverley Orr; son Rodney Orr and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Norman and son Gerald. Ron was a loving, kind man who never had a harsh word for anyone. He was a gentle man of few words, but brought great joy to the whole family. MARTELL, Rae (Ethel DuBois, Ethel Norton) Mom succumbed to heart failure at her home in Kelowna, BC on January 30th, 2013 one day before her 97th birthday. Mom was surrounded by the music that she loved and in the arms of her daughter, Sharie. Mom was born in Hillcrest, Alberta, January 31, 1916 to John and Catherine Norton. Mom was a long time resident of Nelson, BC before retiring in Kelowna to be closer to her family. Mom was predeceased by her daughter Patsy DuBois (1937-1941), her son Dean Martell (1945-2003) and long time dear friend and companion Bob Carlson (1998). SEGUIN, Audrey Was born August 1924 in Chu Chua, BC and when she was six the family pulled up stakes to homestead in Cecil Lake. Audrey taught school in Rose Prairie, where she met Dale, and they were married on February 14th, 1947. She devoted her life to Dale and raising her 3 children. In 1961 they found themselves back farming on the original homestead. In 1975 Audrey and Dale retired from farming and moved to the Okanagan from where they travelled to many locales. Everyone who met her enjoyed her generosity, kindness, smiles and hugs. That kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of her children, Terry (Janice), (Al West), and George (Gayle), grandchildren Sheila (Lee-Al), Dale (Rachel), Tracy (Adrian), Trevor (Kerry), Jorden, Patrick (Angela), and great grandchildren Logan, Haydn, Paisley, Brodie, Joshua, Arwyn and Ella. HOSFIELD, Beatrice Winnifred August 30, 1924 - January 30, 2013 It is with great sadness that the family of Winn Hosfield announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the age of 88 years. Winn lived the first sixty-three years of her life in Winnipeg, Manitoba, marrying Jim, her husband of forty-four years, and raising their two children. Her working career was spent with the Manitoba Government, first with the Examinations Department, then with the Student Aid Branch. After retirement, she moved to Kelowna, B.C. where, over the next twenty-three years, she made significant contributions to St. Michaels and All Angels Anglican Cathedral, the literacy program at Okanagan College, the gift shop in the Kelowna General Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Okanagan Mission Activity Centre for Seniors. In the course of her life in Winnipeg and Kelowna, and finally, in Calgary, Winn touched hundreds of people and made many dear friends. She will be lovingly reme
