TIPPER, Donald Owen: During a rich, interesting and satisfying life our Donald on April 27,has left us much the way he conducted himself, quietly and with a large amount of dignity, while caring for those around him. He died from complications caused by C.O.P.D. His message to all of us, if you smoke stop, if you don't, help someone who does. As was his wish, a celebration of his life and a dinner of all of his favorites was held at his home for close family members. Don had a successful career in the Oil and Gas industry that spanned over 50 years, 35 of which he owned his own consulting business and the last 27 were spent in Libya with some incredible people that became lifelong friends. Don enjoyed every day of his working life and was grateful for his many successes. He was an avid golfer, curler and tennis player. He also enjoyed playing bridge with Paulette and his many friends. He was known to always have a pocketful of Werthers which he would generously share with his co players. Surviving Don is the love of his life; best friend and constant companion of 37 years his devoted wife Paulette. Daughters Tannis (Ron) Wock, Shelly (Dwayne) Chychrun, son, Bruce (Carol) Tipper, brothers Ken (Dot) Tipper, Lorne (Loretta) Willoughby, Clarence and David Willoughby, sister -in- law Laurann  Willoughby, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, brother-in-laws, Leslie, Wes, and Ron (Geri) Mapp, many nephews, nieces, friends, and special friends Al Edwards and John Morrison. Don was predeceased by both parents, son Daniel "Mark" Tipper, sisters Babs and Mary Bullen and one brother Ernie Willoughby. At Don's Request there will not be a service, cremation has taken place. Don believed in giving flowers while he was alive, in lieu of any flowers donations may be made in memory to one of Don's favorite charities, Canadian Cancer Society of Kelowna, Blood Bank, Hospice House, Kelowna Gospel Mission, or a charity of your choice. We would like to thank Don's brother Ken and wife Dot for their constant loving care and support during his final days. Many thanks to his niece Delaine Tipper who was our rock, always with us or on call when we needed her. Special thanks to Dr. G. McCauley, Dr. Robert Williams and the nursing staff at KGH and Hospice House. You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that he'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all he's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see him, or you can be full of the love that he shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember him only that he is gone, or you can cherish his memory and let him live on. You can cry and close your mind, or you can do what he'd wanted: Smile, open your eyes, love and go on. Don was a very caring, compassionate and forgiving man. He will always be the wind beneath our wings. Gone and sadly missed but never forgotten Mr. T. We are so glad we had this time together.
