JENNINGS, Warren: Died peacefully at home on May 6, 2015 at the age of 84. Warren is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Anne and by his cherished children Tim and wife Suzanne and daughter Gail. Warren was predeceased by his beloved eldest son Greg. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren: Kimberly and Anand, Scott and Kaliegh, Jameson and Shaun. Warren leaves behind his brother Rex and wife Simone and their children, Guy and Tara, Grant and Marlene and Clinton and his great niece and great nephews. He is also survived by his cousins who live throughout Saskatchewan and who remained close to his heart. Warren loved and cared for all of the Robinsons, the family he married into. He was a devoted son-in-law, brother-in-law, Uncle and Great Uncle. He was a great friend to many people and says "goodbye" to all of them. Warren was born in Aylesbury, SK and grew up in Nipawin, SK. For Warren there was no place like Nipawin and he felt blessed to grow up in such a loving family. His mother, Laura and father Guy were the pillars of his life and he felt he and Rex were so fortunate to have them as parents and to have each other as brothers. Warren's passion in life was baseball and he played competitively as a young man. His dream was to be a professional pitcher. Sadly, a shoulder injury prevented him from continuing to play but his love for the sport was lifelong. Warren was one of the first employees of Inland Natural Gas when he started in 1957 and he worked 36 years for the company that later became B.C. Gas and then Terasen Gas. He lived in nine different communities throughout BC during those years. He enjoyed the various positions that he held with the gas company over the years and felt fortunate to have had such a long and successful career. Warren believed the employees made Inland so successful and he valued and appreciated the many friends and associates he made throughout his years of service. Warren was an active volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and ran the Canadian Cancer Campaign in Kamloops. He later served on the provincial board for the Cancer Society and was serving as a board member when Terry Fox announced he would like to run across Canada. Meeting Terry was one of the highlights of Warren's life and following Terry's amazing story was a very special memory for Warren. After his retirement he was actively involved in Seniors' Slo Pitch, helped Anne with her grade one classroom, attended Rockets games, enjoyed watching the Kelowna Falcons, worked out at COACH (Central Okanagan Association for Cardiac Health), gardened and enjoyed his walks in the beautiful bird sanctuary behind the Capital News Centre in Kelowna. Warren was so proud of his children and delighted in their success. He was so pleased with who they are as people and to coin one of his favourite expressions, "They know how to act." Warren, Anne and the family are grateful beyond measure to the following people and organizations: Pamela Luehr and the staff of the Kelowna Heart Function Clinic, Kelowna Cardiology, the Kelowna Pacemaker Clinic, Dr. Chris Outram and staff, Dr. Tom Taylor and Marilyn Foster, Dr. Sandy Crocker and staff at Creekside Dental, Dr. Richard Bell, Interior Health and our wonderful team of caregivers, especially Devon and Lesley, the palliative care team, Kelowna Hospice House, Violet Faase and her staff at All in One Health and Home services, Trina, our occupational therapist with Interior Health, Lois and Angie with the Shop by Phone Program, Lakeside Medicine Centre, Sharon from Scrubies Cleaning Service, Taleasa and Lesley Vanderhoek, Erin Matheson-MacKenzie, Bernie Major, the Greg Mussenden Financial Group, the Kelowna Public Library, Mission and Westbank Branches, Leo's Videos, the staff and fellow members of COACH and our loyal, supportive friends. Your help and support made our lives these last few years so much easier and happier. Your kindness will be remembered. Warren was a sincere, kind and gentle giant with a playful sense of humour. He was a joyful man who was warm, hospitable and loving. He was a person with endurance and integrity. He made others feel needed, important and loved. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him more than words can express. A memorial service and reception will be held on Friday, May 29th at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Association for Cardiac Health (COACH) 2622 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 1V6.
