DRUMMOND, GEORGINA: JANUARY 27...
DRUMMOND, Georgina: January 27, 1922 - February 25, 2015. Georgina was born to Edward and Georgina Hewitt in Kenora, Ontario, sibling to big sister Amy (Champion). After completing high school, she enrolled in the Wellesley Hospital of Nursing from which she graduated as a Registered Nurse in the Class of September 1944. Her years at Wellesley had a tremendous influence throughout her life. Nursing was a constant passion, as she first worked in the field full-time and, later on, in a part-time basis. She remained in close contact with many of her classmates throughout her life, despite most of them living in different cities. She also met the love of her life, future husband John (Jack) Murray Drummond, while at Wellesley; he was stationed briefly in Toronto before Navy duties during the War. They married shortly after War's end, living in Vancouver for a few years and then settling in Victoria where Georgina lived until moving to Kelowna six years ago. Unfortunately, she lost Jack in 1993, but she took comfort in her growing family. She very much enjoyed having four generations of family in Kelowna: her daughter Carol (Tom) Campbell and granddaughter Stacey (Peter) Rotheisler and three great grandchildren. Grandson Shawn Campbell (Sarah) and two great grandchildren reside in Toronto. Son Don (Susane) Drummond lives in Ottawa as does granddaughter Nathalie Drummond (Brent) and one great grandson. Granddaughter Julie is residing in Phoenix, AZ. Visits to the family from Nannie have also provided opportunities to attend Wellesley Alumni gatherings. In addition to nursing Georgina had passions for golf, bridge and art, where her talents were considerable. Above all, she was driven by helping others. This was done on an individual basis and through various groups such as P.E.O. Family and friends will miss her greatly but know that she led a rich life and improved every life she touched through a kind word and a helping hand. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com, 250-860-7077.
