Survived by his loving family, two daughters Jennifer Stephenson (Paul) of Kelowna, BC, Patricia Rintoul (Bruce) of Calgary, AB; four grandchildren: Sarah and Brian Stephenson, Stuart and Alison Rintoul. Gordon was a brother-in-law to Shirley Hunt, Richard (Patricia) Savin, Judy (Russ) Smye and Doug (Linda) Savin. Predeceased by his loving wife Joan on Dec. 15, 2014, his parents Howard W. and Lucy Irene French (nee Richardson) and his sisters Grace Stainer and Ruth Hooks. He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and many golf buddies. The family is grateful to all the staff at Sun Pointe Village for their compassionate care of our parents. PETCH, Laurence: Passed away on February 3, 2015 at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his sister Dolores Meynell, his brother-in-law Arthur Kopp and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Vera of 64 years and his brother Doug. Laurence was born and raised in Rutland where he spent his entire life. With his brother Doug, he founded L & D Petch Contracting, Ltd, a very successful local business that he and Doug operated for many years until retirement. Laurence was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. Later in life he especially enjoyed RVing with family and friends. He had a strong community commitment, supporting local charities as well as serving for several years on the Board of Directors of Black Mountain Irrigation District. WHITE, Charles David: Dave White passed away peacefully on Feb 17th, 2015 in Penticton, at 88 years of age. As a young man, Dave served his machinist apprenticeship in Port Alice and later moved to Kimberley to work for Cominco. He changed careers in 1952 and teamed-up with Dick Johnson to open Melody Motors, a Ford dealership. In 1969, he returned to work for Cominco and finished his career as a senior draftsman. After his retirement, Dave and his second wife, Mary, moved to Penticton where they have spent many happy years, including going south to Arizona in the winter months. Dave loved to participate in all sports with tennis and golf being two of his favourites. In Kimberley he liked to go jogging and was often seen out along the Wycliffe prairie. In later years in Penticton, he would go for bike rides along the canal. Dave was predeceased by his parents, first wife, Olga and brother, Godfrey. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, her two daughters, Judy (Grant), Debbie (Ewen), and son, Barry (Adrienne), his two sons, Murray (Joan) and Allen (Donna), as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. MOBERG, Hilde: It is with enormous sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Hildie Moberg, at the age of 67 on Saturday, February 14th at Moog & Friends Hospice House following a courageous battle with stomach cancer. She is survived by her loving children Carrie (Andrew) and Bryan (Halley) and devoted grandsons Liam, Griffin and Quinten. Hildie was born in Aub, Germany in 1947. She moved with her family to Canada in 1951 where they settled in Lavington, BC. Hildie attended school in Vernon and moved to Sparwood after getting married to Cliff Moberg in 1968. The family then moved around BC until finally settling in Penticton in 1985. Hildie's number one job was always as a mom to her children which she also extended to many others who also called her Mom. In 1994 after her children left the nest, she worked in various positions including PRH, The Bay, IGA and Haven Hill. Hildie found her passion tending to the elderly and upon retirement spent countless hours volunteering at local senior centres. Throughout her life she befriended many with her wit, enthusiasm and love for making others feel better. Her smile, never ending hugs and mischievousness will be dearly missed. Please come and share with us a Celebration of Hildie's Life at the Penticton Trade & Convention Center on Thursday, February 26th at 1:00pm. KAVANAGH, JOHN AIDAN JAMES "JACK": Former President and Chief Executive Officer, BC International Power Group, former Vice President, Design and Construction, Westcoast Energy, age 79, of North Vancouver, BC, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Lions Gate Hospital. He was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The mother of his children, Betty Kavanagh, predeceased him. He is survived by his spouse Janet, three daughters, Tracey Kavanagh (two granddaughters, Kylie & Jenna), Wendy Kavanagh (Serge Beaudry (four granddaughters, Nicole, Natalie, Sydney & Taylor)), Kelly Kavanagh, one sister, Sheila Marie Alexander, one brother, Robert (Carol) Kavanagh and nieces and nephews. Jack received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, followed later by an MBA from Simon Fraser University. He spent most of his career (1966-1996) with Westcoast Energy (now Spectra Energy) where he was in charge of design and construction of more than 3,000 miles of high pressure natural gas pipelines and some 28 gathering system and mainline compressor stations. The construction of the Vancouver Island Gas Pipeline system involved one of the deepest marine crossings. Jack has frequently appeared as an expert witness before the Federal Power Commission in Washington, D.C., the National Energy Board of Canada and the British Columbia Utilities Commission. Jack was active in the Westcoast Energy evaluation of the Moomba-Sydney, Australia, Pipeline Project and spent two years in Australia as the Project Manager of the Eastern Gas Pipeline, a joint venture between BHP Petroleum and Westcoast Energy where he was appointed President and Director of Westcoast Energy Australia Engineering Pty. Ltd. Jack continued to provide his expertise to the Company after his retirement. Jack was also active within the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for over 30 years and, among other things, helped develop oil and gas pipeline standards for Canada. Jack was an avid skier (and heli-skier) who shared his passion for skiing with his daughters, granddaughters and many others. He loved the sport and volunteered at many ski racing events with the Whistler Weasels, such as, the Whistler Cup, World Cup and the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics. He also sailed off the Coast of British Columbia in many races with the crew of Moody Too. In later years he switched to power boating with Janet when they lived in the Okanagan. The Kelowna Yacht Club became a second home for Jack and he devoted many years to its service as volunteer, Director, and ultimately Commodore. Jack was a loving family man who always put his family and friends first. Jack lived life to the fullest and had many stories to tell. For those he has left behind there is an irreplaceable void, but the cherished memories of his kind and fun loving spirit will be in our hearts forever. TILY, Ethelyn "Et" Irene (nee Felton): Feb.19, 1920- Feb. 5, 2015. Our family is very sad to announce that Et passed away on Thursday, February 5th at Abbotsford Regional Hospital in her 95th year, just two weeks shy of her birthday. She was predecessed by her husband Bill in 2011 and by her brothers Vic and Ralph Felton and her sister-in-law Dot Baulkham. Et is survived by her sister Dorothy (Dolly) Chapman of Okanagan Falls, sisters-in-law Ruth Lintott (Chilliwack) and Terry Felton (Penticton); her daughter Ruth Petrie (Mel), son Fred; grandchildren Lara, Mike (Steph), Dustin (Kaila); great grandchildren Matthew, Melissa, Sophia, Stella, and Logan Marie; and many nieces and nephews. Et was born in Vernon B.C. on February 19th, 1920 but lived most of her life in Penticton. She and Bill were married in 1940 and spent the next 67 years in the same house until they moved to Abbotsford in 2007 to live with their daughter Ruth. Their stay in Abbotsford allowed eight happy years of close contact with the local grandchildren and their families Her husband Bill worked for over 40 years with the CPR Kettle Valley Railroad and Et was very involved in the women's lodge associated with the company. Et was also very active in curling, bowling and hiking with the local naturalist club. Another active interest was the Okanagan Historical Society and she was well versed in the local history of the valley including many of the ghost towns of southern BC. Et, as the eldest sibling, was well prepared to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and good friend. It would be difficult to find a kinder person than Et and she was dearly loved by her family. Her family will forever fondly remember her as the "world's greatest pie maker" The family wishes to thank the various branches of the medical community for the timely and excellent care she received over the last few years, including the staff in the Palliative Care ward of the hospital. There will be no funeral service. The family will gather in Penticton in the spring to honour Et. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in her memory are asked to do so to a charity of their choice.

PALSER, Shirley: Passed away on Wednesday, February 18th, 2015 at the age of 73. During her working life Shirley was a stenographer; she was very creative and involved in 4H for years, winning many trophies. PERROTT, Betty: Our family matriarch, who lived her life of almost 94 years demonstrating strength, generosity, and love of family, passed away on February 21, 2015. Born Betty McBride in Toronto in 1921, she married Frederick Perrott in 1948. Fred's career as a soldier took them to Ottawa, London (Eng), Borden, Gagetown, Regina and finally to Saskatoon. Betty was widowed in 1973. After her retirement from U of S, College of Dentistry she followed her family to Kelowna in 1986. Betty's giving nature led her to be an active volunteer with CNIB and Canadian Blood Services. In recognition of her long service with CNIB, Betty was presented with the QEII Diamond Jubilee Medal. Betty leaves behind her children: Al (Brenda) Perrott, Leslie (Jim) Swan, Warren (Bev) Perrott, Tricia (Peter) Chmiel; and grandchildren John Perrott, Jerrold Perrott (Colette Davis), Bruce (Sarah) Draeven, Chad (Katherine) Swan and daughter Jolene, Ted (Laurel) Swan, Jamie Swan, Lindsay Perrott (Brent Comeau) and daughter Paisley, Kelly Perrott (Paul Medeiros), Erin Chmiel, and Andrea Chmiel. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dennis Lewis Nugent, a much loved husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend to all. Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years Annette, children Sandy (Greg Purves), Patty Nugent, Theresa (Rob Watts), Dan Nugent, Trish (Paul Stewart). Grandchildren, Christy, Jessica, Jennifer, Michael, Brittany, Patrick, Ellyanna, Mady, Bre, Stewy and great grandchildren Alexis, Sawyer and Olin. He is also survived by his sister Francis Jones, dozens of nieces and nephews, and life long friends the Cowan family. Born in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, Dennis made his way to the Okanagan where he built a wonderful life for the past 50 years. Dennis spent 35 years as a professional long haul truck driver but his passion was for sports, in particular hockey. He played for the famous Gravelbourg Black Cats and loved nothing more than to watch his children, his children's friends and grandchildren play the game. Dennis spent his retirement years enjoying his family and his treasured pets. This Irish Rover loved much and was much loved! 10-4 Good buddy. TAYLOR, Matilda (Tillie): 1924 Sept 25 - 2015 Feb 13 Tillie, much loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend has joined her true love Harry, who predeceased her in September 2014. She leaves her daughter Barbara Sutton (Kelowna), son Ken (Elaine) (North Vancouver); grandchildren, Gillian Taylor (Calgary), James Sutton (Kelowna), Nadine Taylor (Vancouver) and Courtney Sutton (Langley). She also has two surviving sisters, Con Carley and Rose Medd; sister-in-law, Flo Wyatt and many nieces and nephews. Tillie was born in Edmonton, Alberta and lived in Nestow until her family moved to the Okanagan Valley in 1939. She and Harry married in 1951 and spent the next few decades pouring their hearts into their children and grandchildren. Tillie found great joy in family, baking, doing fancy work and crafts, bird watching and her church. Tillie's kind spirit, quiet strength and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew and loved her. LEAHY, Margaret Theresa: Daughter of the late Francis James Leahy and Louise Lunney, sister of the late Martin 'Barry' Leahy and Mary Joan LaBerge. Margaret passed away peacefully at Westview Pavilion, Penticton, British Columbia on February 21, 2015. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Yakasovich-Greet (Richard Greet), her nieces Catherine LaBerge (James Stewart) and Mary Louise LaBerge (Dianne Gaffney), nephews Michael, Gary and Mark LaBerge (Karen Hulquist) and was loving great aunt to Anne, Theressa and Kate Kenney and great-great aunt to Saraphena and Quinton. Also survived by cherished cousins Betty Lunney, Susan (Lunney) Mott and Dr. Maureen Lunney, Dr. John Jackson-Hughes, Mary Anne Jackson-Hughes O'Neil and Margaret Jackson-Hughes, as well as, her beloved Godsons John F. Kennedy and Stuart Jackson-Hughes. Margaret was retired from the Canadian Government Exhibition Commission, was a former soloist and choir director at St. Patrick's Basilica, Ottawa and longstanding member of the Catholic Women's League. On February 20, 2015 at the age of 85 years, Lola passed away; she is survived by her children, Kurt and Lee; grandsons, Brock and Jordan; 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
