MCINTOSH, JENNIFER (GRAW): June 3, 1969 - Feb 18,2014 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our daughter and sister. Jenny graduated in 1987 from Pen High, then attended OUC to become a Certified Dental Assistant. She worked for many years for Dr. Paul Paxon, loving her job and her patients. After years of brightening Penticton smiles, Jenny decided to change careers. She attended John Casablancas cosmetology school and excelled. She enjoyed a long career in Vancouver with The Bay and Eaton's, working for Clinique and Estee Lauder. Jenny was the youngest person to be given her own free-standing cosmetics counter, and was personally thanked by Timothy Eaton's great grandson for her sucess. After beautifying Vancouver, she changed careers again. Jenny went to work for the City of Vancouver Dispatch. She always said this was her hardest and most challenging job! After keeping the streets of Vancouver running smoothly, she fell ill and had to stop working. With all her will and the support of people who loved her, she fought and survived a serious illness. Jenny's sweet voice and kind heart have touched so many people. She will be sorely missed and is survived by her mother Jacqueline and sister Patricia. Sadly predeceased by husband John, January 2013. She was passionate about animals, particularly her cats Diva and Queenie and her beloved dog Orkney. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and heaven truly has a new angel. No doubt Jenny has a lineup for makeovers already. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA would be her wish. Come celebrate Jenny's life, March 8, 2014, 2 - 4pm, Ramada Hotel Atrium, Penticton, BC.

SIMPSON, Evelyn Maud The family of Evelyn Simpson is deeply saddened to announce her unexpected passing on February 18, 2014 in Guelph, Ontario. She slipped away as she lived, quietly and gently. Mourning her loss is daughter Lorraine (Chris) and son Wayne (Debra), and four grandchildren, Scott, Todd and Andrea Willson, and Alana Simpson, as well as nieces and nephews across Canada. Evelyn was born on June 30, 1921 in Winnipeg, and moved to Montreal in 1960. Shortly after, she became a school secretary in the West Island School Board, a job she loved and excelled at until her retirement in 1977. In 1978, life took another turn, this time to the west when Evelyn and her late husband William (Bill) James Simpson retired to Kelowna. There, they continued to live life to the fullest, travelling, entertaining and spending time together with family and friends until Bill's death in February 2005. Evelyn was a kind and caring soul, and her family will miss her thoughtful wisdom, selfless support, and generous spirit. At this time of grief, we take solace in remembering the many wonderful years we spent together as she continues on her next journey to join Bill. According to her wishes, Evelyn will be cremated and there will be no funeral. Instead, in the coming weeks the family will hold a celebration of life and the positive impact she had on the people who knew and loved her. If friends wish, donations can be made in her memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Messages of condolence can be sent to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051 or www.wallcustance.com

McNEILL, Ruth Sigbritt Ingeborg Ruth, whom we all know as Britta, passed away February the 22nd this year in the middle of the night in her sleep. She had been suffering from Cancer which was discovered in the spring 2013. She was treated for it but unfortunately too late. Britta was born in a small town called Borga, in Finland 1926. She graduated from high school and was educated as a physiotherapist. In the 50's she and her husband Donald moved to Canada where she became instrumental in evolving Physiotherapy in Canada, eventually as the head of the physiotherapy department in various hospitals both east and west, in Canada. Besides her professional life she was an avid sailor and together with her husband raced 5O5s for many years. She was also very active with her needlework and displayed her artwork at exhibitions. Gardening was another activity she was very fond of. And then there was scuba diving, skiing and fishing. As a young boy I used to admire my aunt Britta so much. She was the one who dared to move to the new country far away - to the frontier - I felt it was. When she came to visit us in Sweden or Finland in the summers she was always the most enthusiastic one in her generation, full of life with a daring appetite for anything and everything it seemed. She was a fresh sparkle in our old world here in Europe. She and Donnie visited us at our farm in the 90s and were only supposed to stay for an afternoon, but they stayed for 3 days - helping us build a stable! I, together with many others will miss my sweet voiced and smiling aunt. Me, my wife Susanne, my brothers Marcus and Christian, my sister Margherita, my cousin Kjell and his wife Virginia, my nephew Rasmus and his sister Bianca were lucky to have her as a friend, and so were many others in Canada, Finland and many other parts of the world. I would like to thank Clarice and Peter Guillon for their care for Britta since Christmas 2012. Clarice in particular has been with her most of the time since then and has been absolutely marvelous for her. Special thanks also goes to the staff of Hawthorne Park and the Hospice House for their care. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home's Family Center, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna. Rather than flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choosing. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com
