MacMATH, Lynda E. Nov. 8, 1943 - Feb. 13, 2014 Lynda MacMath, 70, passed away peacefully with family at Kelowna General Hospital on February 13th, 2014. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald MacMath, her daughters Sheryl MacMath and Ann Rusch, her son-in-law David Rusch, and her granddaughters Octavia and Zeah Rusch. Her memorial service and reception will be held Friday, February 21st, 2014 at 4pm at the Springfield Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation or the BC Kidney Foundation.

WOSTRADOWSKI, Conrad T. Dec. 24, 1967 - Feb. 16, 2014 Passed away on Sunday, February 16th, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Conrad was born on December 24, 1967 in Surrey, B.C. He worked as an equipment operator for Teck for the last 2 years. Conrad grew up in Kelowna and moved to Trail 3 years ago. Conrad's greatest joy was his family and his nieces and nephews. His next greatest joy was his motorcycle club, The Kootenay Roadrunners. He also enjoyed playing baseball and slo-pitch and loved to watch hockey, especially watching his nephews Dallas and Jake. Conrad is survived by his parents, Wilbur and Janice, his brother Brian (Val), his niece Christine, his nephew Jake, his brother Scott (Lisa), his niece Sierra, his nephew Dallas, his sister Tanya (John), his nephew Ethan, his grandmother Anna Maria and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Plus his many wonderful friends from the Kootenay Roadrunners motorcycle club. He is predeceased by his uncle Bill, his brother Roger, his grampa Hank and his grandmother Muriel. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Conrad's name may be made to the BC Cancer Agency at 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, B.C. BERNER, Alda Augusta 1923 - 2014 Alda Augusta Berner passed away on February 12, 2014 in West Kelowna, BC at the age of 90 years. Alda will be lovingly remembered by her stepchildren: Jody, Cathy and David; her grandchildren: Sean, Amber, Stephanie, Rachel, Jeff, Colleen and Matthew; and her three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Norman; her parents Per and Gerda; her brother Gust; as well as sisters Martha, Ann and Dorothy. Alda was a long time CNR employee, and enjoyed bowling at Valley Lanes in Kelowna. Her ashes will be spread at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a small family service in the spring. OMOTANI, GORO: Born March 26, 1921 in Vancouver, BC as the youngest son of five boys to Japanese immigrant parents; passed away February 10, 2014 at the age of 92. He was a strong, giving and gentle man who played for the Shell Oil baseball team in Cranford, Alberta, served as 1st Captain to Steveston #2 Hall for the Richmond Fire Department, Co-owned and operated Marine Garage in Steveston, BC, and also played on the Steveston Merchants baseball team. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his family, friends and all those fortunate to have known him. Being one who didn't need lots of attention or fuss made over him, there will not be a funeral. RAMPONE, Phyllis It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Phyllis Ellen Rampone on February 15th, 2014. Phyllis was born June 17, 1927 in Victoria, BC to Eric and Martha (Binnie) Holland. She was predeceased by her beloved brother Ronald Holland. With a traveler's heart, she embraced what life had to offer and never shied away from new experiences. Phyllis will be greatly missed by her husband, Louis, with whom she enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her children Carol Black (and husband Gordon), Donna McCardell (and husband Gary), and Ron Rampone (and wife Sue); her grandchildren Ryan McCardell (and wife Shawna), Courtney Ford, Eric Rampone (Alisa), and Josh Rampone, step grandsons, Nathan Black (and wife Shannon) Jonathan Black (and wife Jenn); two great grandchildren Elijah and Tristan Ford; six step great grandchildren Amy; Gibson; Erin; Cassidy; Nicole and Garrett Black and her many lifelong friends. During her years in Kelowna, Phyllis served on the Kelowna General Hospital Board and was president of the hospital auxiliary. She loved gardening and her weekly bridge games. Phyllis lived for her family and friends and truly enjoyed spending time with them. From days spent at her cottage to nights of entertaining, Phyllis never stopped doing the things she loved. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 21st at 2:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna, BC. Reception to follow. OTKE, EMMA (November 3, 1915 - February 10, 2014) 98 years Emma passed away at Penticton, BC with the singing of hymns of God's goodness in Christ voiced over the phone by grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born in Germany 1915 - came to Canada with her parents and siblings in 1921 to the Cracknell/Russell District of Manitoba. Predeceased by: Husband Julius, infant son Harold and son Arnold (Shirley). Parents - Emil and Emilie Zimmer, Siblings Gus (Louise) (Adina), Rudolf (Frieda), Karl (Winnie), Lydia (Albert) Nernberg, Pearl (Pete) Lindenbach and Wilma (George) Wagner. Survived by: Sister Olga (George) McRobbie, Bon Accord, AB, Brother-in-law Paul (Selma) Otke, Langley, BC. Children: Robert (Gladys) Dauphin, MB, Shirley (Herb) Wildeman, Winnipeg, MB, Ron (Betty) White Rock, BC, Trudy (Richard) Teneycke, Nanaimo, BC, Richard (Barb), Summerland, BC, Gerri (Dale) Cross, The Pas, MB, Earl (Penny) Penticton, BC, 19 Grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren,and many nieces and nephews. Emma was renowned for her flower gardens, whether it was at Grainfield, Roblin, The Pas, Beausejour, or Buchanan Boulevard in Winnipeg. She raised the best children, foster children and baked the best buns and cinnamon bread in the country. Emma enjoyed providing wonderful meals, filling her dining room with children, grandchildren, church friends and neighbors. Emma is remembered for preparing food and other necessities for Ladies Aid and the L.W.M.L. projects. She worked tirelessly in all the Lutheran congregations that the family belonged to. Emma and Julius' retirement in Winnipeg lasted for 20 years where they celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary. Emma left Winnipeg at the age of 94 and enjoyed 2 years at Cherry Park Retirement Residence in Penticton. The family wants to thank Dr. Burgoyne and the caring staff of the extended care unit of West View South who looked after Emma with wonderful, compassionate care for the last two years. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 15244 Victoria Road North, Summerland, BC Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 am. Pastor Charles Cooley officiating. VASS, John David It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John David Vass, 84, after a brief battle with cancer. Dave was born on May 28, 1929 in Penticton, BC to Jack and Elsie Vass. He was predeceased by his parents and his older brother Don. Dave is survived by his 3 children: Bill Vass; Jody Vass; his son David; Shelley Einarson, her son Evan. Dave is also survived by his brother Ken (Jeannine), sister-in-law Isabelle and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dave is also survived by his loving wife Ingrid and her 4 children: Jane (Al), Peggy (Jim), Sheri (Dan), Cindy (Don) as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dave was an active member of the Kelowna-Rutland Lion's Club and took great pride in his service work and the friendships developed there. He also volunteered for many years at KGH and Brookhaven. Dave and Ingrid spent the last 9 years together, enjoying travel and the love and companionship with their blended families. We will miss Dave's infectious smile and great attitude toward life each and every day. In lieu of flowers, we encourage people to donate in Dave's name to the Central Okanagan Hospice House. Charles Graham McAllister February 16, 1943-February 13, 2014 Graham passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was a kind, generous, and fun loving man who was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Graham is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 38 years, Sue, his children Ian (Svetlana) and Jennifer (Tony), his sister Sharen and family, and his late sister Wendy's family. He was the loving grandfather to Evan, James, Adrian and Nicholas. Born in Vancouver he graduated from Churchill High School and went on to Notre Dame University in Nelson where he received his BA. He then attended UBC Law School and was called to the bar in 1972. Graham practiced law in Surrey, Kamloops, and Kelowna. Graham met his wife Sue at Whistler in 1973 and they married in England in 1975. Their son Ian was born in Vancouver in 1978 and their daughter Jennifer in Kamloops in 1979. Graham and his family enjoyed spending time together skiing, sailing, hiking, fishing and summers at the family cabin on the Shuswap. Graham and Sue enjoyed travelling with friends and family, and most recently in their fifth wheel. Graham was an active Mason joining Mount St. Paul Lodge No. 109 in Kamloops. He served as the Worshipful Master of Prince Charles Lodge No. 153 in Kelowna and also District Deputy of District No. 9. Proceeding to the Scottish Rite he became a member of the Lodge of Perfection, The Rose Croix, The Consistory and was bestowed the 33rd Degree. Graham also joined The Royal Order of Scotland. The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses, and volunteers who cared for Graham throughout his courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of Graham's life will be held at 1pm on March 1st, 2014 at St. Paul's United Church, 3131 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna, BC. McKINLEY, LORRAINE RUTH: The family is sad to announce that Lorraine Ruth McKinley (nee Boe) passed away February 11th, 2014. She was born in Minnesota July 10, 1926, the youngest of 9 siblings. When she was four years old, the family relocated to Debolt, Alta where she grew up and met her future husband Lyall. During their 55 years together, they lived in Grand Prairie, Winnipeg, and Burstall, Sask. before retiring to Penticton in 1986. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Lyall in 2001, son Terry in 1999 and son Gordie in 1981. She is lovingly remembered by sister, Alice Finch; son, Ron (Melanie); granddaughter, Kimberly (Matt); grandsons, David (Sheila) and Stephen. Lorraine cherished her 5 great grandchildren Jamie, Joel, Laurynn, Russell & Stella; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family including, Erica and Zephrin. The family would like to thank all of the nurses at PRH who cared for Lorraine in her last month, especially those on the Rehab Unit. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Daniel Killian. HARKER, ROBERT BRUCE Robert was born on February 28th, 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and passed away in Kelowna February 17, 2014. Bruce was predeceased by his first wife Beverly in February 1985. He retired from Dairyland Foods in 1990. SCHMIDT, Marianne It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marianne Schmidt on February 15th, 2014. Marianne was born in Hirschberg, Germany in 1928. At four she met her lifelong friend Margit Linten. She was a kindergarten teacher in Arnstadt, Germany when she met Joaquim Karl Schmidt. They were married in 1950. In 1951 they had their only child Norbert "Troy". In 1952 they immigrated to Canada with a dream of a new life. Joe and Marianne lived in Montreal, a farm in Ontario, then Calgary until 1975 settling in Westbank. Marianne worked hard all her life. She was especially proud of the jewellery store she and Joe opened in 1975. She loved gardening and travelling. In later years she enjoyed taking the granddaughters on trips with them. She is predeceased by her husband Joe in 2000 and her sister Elizabeth. She leaves to mourn her only son Troy, his wife Lee Ann and granddaughters, Stephanie (Dallas), Jennifer and Krista. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 10:00 am at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
