Jean Stainton (June 30, 1925 - January 12, 2013): Stainton, Jean Eileen (nee Burns) passed away on January 12, 2013 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by her best friend & the love of her life George, her husband for 63 years. She is survived by her daughters: Nola Donohoe & Sheila (Jay Hack); her grandchildren: Angela & Sheriesse Donohoe, Jared & Liam Hack; sister-in-laws: Helen Burns & Elma Stainton, nieces, nephews & friends. She had a very close & special relationship with her niece, Dawn (Dave Watt) & their son, Brad. Jean was predeceased by her brothers: Bob & Jack Burns, sister-in-laws: Muriel Burns & Susan Enns; nephews: Harold Burns & Andrei Szalanski. Jean was born in Penticton and lived the majority of her life in White Lake & Kaleden. She was a devout Jehovah's Witness & loved playing the guitar & singing. Schultz, Kenneth F. Feb. 27, 1962 - Jan. 9, 2013 Passed away peacefully January 9, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving parents, Fred and Pat, his wife, Francine, his loving daughter, Kyrstin (Justin) and grandchildren Emaleigh and Riley, and his precious daughter, Jaclynn. Kenn is also survived by his brother, Glenn (Kim), nephews Justin and Brendan, sister Carrie (Roland), nephews Christopher, Steven and Kevin, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and step-children (Harrison and Michaela). Kenn will be greatly missed by his large extended family and many friends. He will be fondly remembered by all those he came in contact with for his amiable personality and infectious smile. KOGA, Morio Morio Koga, golfer, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and did we mention golfer, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Morio was spoiled by his wife Carol of 52 years, cherished by his four children: Janice Richardson (predeceased by husband Ross), Gary (Pam), Diane Dovey (Philip) and Bob (Shauntelle) and treasured by his grandchildren: Lee (Andrew), Heather (Connor), Jennifer, Matthew, Emma and Sophie. Morio was born in Kelowna on March 5, 1927 to Suekichio and Hatsu Koga. PATTERSON, Dorothy Died peacefully with family by her side on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the age of 93. Survived by her loving family, daughter Pat Putnam (Ray) of Kelowna; son Ken Patterson (Susan Herring) of Peachland; granddaughters: Sandra Elford (Joss), Lisa Sherrard (Tim), Kristy Putnam (John Denham); four great granddaughters: Brynn, Eva, Phoebe and Mia. Predeceased by her husband Lisle; eight siblings and great grandson Quinn. Dorothy was born in Saskatchewan where she met Lisle. They moved to MacGregor, MB and after the War they bought the Red & White store which they ran for many years. Dorothy was highly involved with the United Church choir and the UCW. In later years she lived in Lion's Place in Winnipeg where she spent many happy years with her sister Helen and sisters-in-law Selma and Dolly. They had many fun years together. HUGGINS, Albert (Bert) Frederick: Born November 26, 1919 in Vancouver, passed away after a brief illness January 16, 2013 in Penticton; survived by his beloved Doris, to whom he was married for 67 1/2 years. Sadly missed by her and their many nieces and nephews. Bert was a self-educated, hard-working man who demonstrated great intelligence, wit, humour, curiosity and generosity of spirit. Being a curious man, Bert had many interests and over his long life was a lumber man, dog breeder, reporter, photographer, farmer, musician, dancer and singer. His first love was always his Doris to whom he was kind and generous and whom he loved to the end. His greatest joy was spending time with her in their many shared pursuits of raising their dogs, farming, square dancing and singing. He loved gadgets and was an early adopter of technologies such as colour TV (with a remote control so he could mute the ads for Doris), the Polaroid and Kodak Super 8 movie cameras, and of course, computers. PYLE, Louise Irene (nee Bowie) Passed away peacefully at the Central Okanagan Hospice House January 16th, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer at the age of 68. Louise was predeceased by her beloved daughter Robin and her mother Grace. She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Derek; father George; brothers Laird (Debra), Bryan (Joy), Rob (Judy) and loving children Jodi (Shawn), Rick (AJ); grandchildren Brayden, Colton, Nathan and Janessa as well as all her wonderful extended family and cherished friends. Heartfelt gratitude goes out to the staff and volunteers of the Hospice House. According to Louise's wishes there will be no service. SPERLE, Matthew "Matt" Anton Passed away in Kelowna, BC on January 18, 2013. Born December 28, 1922 in Regina, SK. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years Patricia, son Robert Sperle, daughter Jill Sperle, grandchildren Andrea and Kayley Bernard, brothers George (Joyce), Andrew (Betty) and numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly predeceased by son Bryon, brother Joe, sisters Barbara, Mary and Vicki. Matt served his country in WWII. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. The family would like to thank Dr. R. Williams for his compassionate care, as well as the staff of 4B, 5B and Rehab. VASSAR, Bill Born August 15, 1935 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to John and Mary Vassar. Bill went to be with Our Lord on the 18th of January, 2013, at home in the arms of his loving wife, Merie and his faithful dog, Zoey. Bill started his career at an early age, working for 7Up as a salesperson. He then worked for Combined Insurance as Manager. He transferred to Calgary where he was employed by Sovereign Life Insurance as a Manager and was promoted to Executive Vice President in a very short time. He was with them for 7 years. Bill retired at age 52 and moved to Kelowna with his loving wife, Merie. Bill was a long time member of the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus in Kelowna and Aids Hospice. He coached Midget AA Hockey in Kelowna and Bill was always attending his grandson Johnathon's PeeWee and Midget games. He was an exceptional father and Giga (Grandfather). RUTHERFORD, John Passed away suddenly on January 17, 2013 at home. John was an outdoorsman, an avid reader and a dog enthusiast. He was born in Vancouver on November 11, 1933 to Kate and Jock Rutherford and grew up in the area of 28th and Main. As a teenager, he travelled and worked throughout British Columbia and developed a love of the outdoor life. In 1955, he married his childhood friend and sweetheart, Marjorie. They settled in Richmond and together they raised two children. When the children were grown, he pursued his dream of building a log cabin and living the country life. John and Marjorie found this in Atlin, BC, where he read on his many topics of interest, raised dogs and enjoyed the outdoors. Upon moving to Kelowna in 1995, Marjorie's vision and enthusiasm and John's love of dogs founded the "Pets and People Visiting Society" of Kelowna which they have worked at for many years. John applied his talents screening dogs for the Society. John is survived by his wife Marjorie,

ANDERSON, Angela 1920 - 2013 The family of Hylda Eileen Anderson, known to everyone as Angela, is sad to announce the passing of their beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother on January 21, 2013 at Kelowna General Hospital. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children. Angela was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Andy Anderson. She is survived by four children, Paula Katzmann (Phoenix, AZ), Ingrid (Chuck) Davison, Allanah Weston, Ed (Kathy) Anderson, five granddaughters, Ingrid DiRusso, Dustin Stadnyk, Zoe Perkins, Troe Weston and Sarah Anderson, and four great-grandchildren.
