CLETON, Eric Michiel Peacefully passed away on December 17th, 2012 after fighting a lengthy battle with cancer. Eric was born in Schiedam, South Holland on November 16, 1961. He met his wife on February 14, 2000 at Pierrepont, Frensham, Farnham, Surrey England. Eric immigrated to Canada in August 2000 and married his wife Elfrieda in September in Revelstoke, BC where they lived together until 2010 before relocating to Kelowna, BC. While living in Revelstoke, Eric worked at Glacier Building Supplies/VicVan Isle Construction. In 2010, Eric was employed by KGH and Queen Victoria Hospital as a MDR Technician. Eric is survived by his loving wife Elfrieda; step-daughter Miranda Elliot (Aaron) of Kelowna; step-son Garet Hindman (Nicole) of Nanaimo; five grandchildren: Calleigh, Amira, Micah, Avery and Aria; his mother Cootje Koomen (Jan); sister Froukje Blanken (Jan) of the Netherlands; niece Sara Blanken and nephew Michiel Blanken. WESTLEY, KENNETH February 13th, 1955 - December 12th, 2012 Ken passed away suddenly at his home in Faulder, BC, at the age of 57 years. He was predeceased by his father in 1998 and his mother in 2006. He leaves his brothers; Morris, David (Sharon), Raymond (Connie), Gordon and Robert (Debbie), his sister Anita, nieces and nephews to mourn. He also leaves to mourn, his caregivers of 17 years, Ed and Cathy Anderson and countless support staff. Ken was a very unique person, and will be greatly missed. He had a joy for life and a great sense of humour, with a smirk on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. He loved babies, and could fix anything electrical with a couple rolls of electricians tape. KOCH, Peter Passed away peacefully on December 14, 2012 at the age of 92. Predeceased by his loving wife, Eva, he is survived by his three sons; Donald (Florence) and granddaughter Elizabeth; Douglas (Joyce); Dennis (Beverly) and grandchildren Bryce and Hannah. Peter was born in Hodgeville, Sask. on May 10, 1920. Peter proudly served his country in the Second World War. He continued to serve in the RCAF until his retirement in 1976. He was a dedicated member of the Kelowna community and was actively involved in the Royal Canadian Legion, Kelowna's 883 Wing of the Air Force Association and the Kelowna Regatta. We shall remember him. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association. HALLAM, Bernard Lloyd Bernard 'Bernie' Lloyd Hallam, beloved husband of 62 years to Betty, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the age of 85. Besides his wife Betty, Bernie is survived by his son Glen (Lynn), granddaughters Megan and Carly and his brother Gerald (Wilma). Bernie was predeceased by his parents, his stepmother, 3 brothers and a sister. Born in Saskatoon, June 12th, 1927, Bernie worked for the Canadian National Railway for 20 years in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and Thunder Bay. In 1970 he moved to Westbank and operated the HyMart convenience store for 10 years and finished his working career with Campion Boats. Bernie was a "Life Time Member" of the Westbank Lions Club and was closely involved with the renovation of the Westbank Community Hall. He also enjoyed using his building and woodworking skills volunteering at the Easter Seals "Camp Winfield" for Disabled Children. RAMSELL, DOUG On Dec. 18, 2012 Doug Ramsell passed away peacefully at Penticton Regional Hospital at the age of 82 years. Doug was predeceased by his wife, Ginnie. Left to mourn are his daughters Debby Sworder (Lyle), Sandi Murphy (Pat) and Kim Burke (Graham); grandchildren Brett and Kerri Sworder, Ryan and Arlana Murphy, Matthew, Allison and Laura Burke, great grandchildren Tika, Mio and Kina Sworder, sisters-in-law Ruby Ramsell and Vicky Ramsell; nephews Lee Ramsell (Jeanne), Rick and Keith Ramsell; nieces Shelly Ramsell and Terry Ramsell (Rick). ORTIZ, JOHN EDWARD 1936 - 2012 Diagnosed with lung cancer in August this year, Dad fought a hard battle until his passing December 6, 2012. Fortunately, most of his loving family were with him, and friends were able to visit him before his passing. Life for Dad and Mom began together in the "land of the pale blue snow", Churchill, Manitoba, when Dad was stationed there with the US Army and Mom was with the National Harbor's Board. Life's travels had children born in Indiana, USA, daughter Johnna, The Pas, Manitoba, son Jim, and North Delta, BC, son Sean. Always hard workers, dreams, homes, careers and family were built and nurtured to the final culmination of semi-retiring to Penticton in 1991, when mom and dad opened their home to share their love of Riordan House to guests. DAGURO, Alda With a heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved sister, auntie and friend, Alda Daguro. On December 20, 2012, Alda lost her two year battle with cancer and passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at Hospice House in Kelowna. Born on November 18, 1959, Alda started her new life in Canada arriving in Yellowknife, NWT in mid January 1996 to be greeted with -46^oC weather. Coming here originally as a nanny for her sister's new born baby William, she moved with the family to Westbank a year later and worked with them for years in their wine store, and later on at Missionwood Retirement Resort. Alda leaves behind her grieving sister Arnella (Inday) Taylor (Dave & William) of Peachland, her brother Noel Daguro (and family) of Mississauga as well as her sister Maribel and brothers Edwin, Farlie, Tirso (deceased), Ariel, Rosseler and Joffrey as well a numerous nephews and nieces of the Philippines. WRATE, Frederick Jack Nov 1, 1920 - Nov 17, 2012 After 92 years Jack moved to his next adventure, fully aware of the love, hugs and goodbyes expressed by many loved ones. Many thanks to Dr. Howard and staff at St Joseph's and Case Loma. Jack leaves behind Enid, his wife of 64 years, four children and spouses, seven grandchildren and their spouses, twelve great-grandchildren, and many relatives in Canada and England. Born in Gwelo, Southern Rhodesia, Jack moved to England in 1930. He was a "home boy", who at sixteen was sent to work on farms in Ontario, moving west with the drifters and hobos, dreaming of a cowboy life. From 1938-45 Jack served the Loyal Edmonton Regiment in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland. He was our family's war hero. He worked for the Alberta Department of Highways starting as a surveyor and retiring in 1975 as Highway Inspector. He loved his job and built Alberta highways that are his legacy. HEINEMANN, Stanley Oct 21, 1921 - Dec 22, 2012 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, Gedo and great-grandfather, Stanley Arthur Heinemann, at the age of 91. He passed away peacefully on December 22nd, 2012 at Dawson Court with his family by his side. Stan was born on October 21st, 1921 in Elk Point, Alberta. Stan had a lengthy mining career, working in Yellowknife, NT, Great Slave Lake, AB, Geraldton, ON, and finally in Manitouwadge, ON at Willroy mines in 1956. He resided in Manitouwadge from 1956-1978 where he raised his 4 children with his wife, Olga. Following Olga's passing in 1976, Stan moved to Fort St. John, BC. In 1978, he married Helen. He retired in Kelowna, BC and remained there for the next 26 years. After the passing of Helen in June of 2012, Stan returned to Thunder Bay, ON in December 2012, for just two short weeks before leaving us. SANDHU, Charanjit Singh It is with the deepest regret that we announce the passing of Charanjit (Jerry) Sandhu on December 20, 2012 at 4:10 pm in the Kelowna General Hospital. Charanjit came to Canada from India in 1969 where he did his Masters in music. He was involved in the orchard industry most of his life. He was always the happiest when he was playing music, writing his music and poetry for the Indian Punjabi Paper or just wandering through a flea market looking for a deal. Charanjit was a very intelligent man and that is why he always spoke his mind with an intellect's tone. He had an infectious laugh and was always willing to lend a hand with his many talents to his many friends and family.
