Just prior to his death, the family had relocated to Penticton, BC in 1957 to be closer to Jean's parents. ROGERS, Dee "Grandee": Born December 31st, 1940, Dee Rogers, RPN, BSW, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2014. Despite many obstacles, Dee's mantra of 'Dream It, Believe It, Do It' inspired her to be a 'difference maker'. She did this in many ways. She was an influential part of both the Okanagan Chapter of the MS Society and Soles for Souls. She was a Council Member of the Premier's Advisory Council for Persons with Disabilities, a torch bearer for the 25th anniversary of the 'Man-in-Motion' tour, was part of the initial Interferon clinical trials and a long-time member of Toastmasters. She also worked as a Kelowna Crisis Line volunteer, and at one time wrote a weekly column in the Kelowna Daily Courier. It is difficult to find the words to articulate Dee's impact on so many people, from so many different walks of life. She was well loved by family and friends for not only her kindness and wisdom but also her unique fashion sense. And, she was one heck of a ukulele player! She always had popcorn and root beer for her grandchildren, and French Hazelnut Roast coffee for the parents. 'Grandee' leaves behind many wonderful, supportive friends as well as sister Cindy, grandchildren Leticia, Noah, Caleb, Maxwell, Veronica and Lucas, sons, Sean and Brad, daughter-in-laws Alysse and Michelle and, of course, Miss Ellie. A special thank you for the wonderful care received from Brenda and the staff at Mountainview. Her love of life was evident by her resolve to sky dive this coming year to celebrate her 75th birthday. We will miss you Grandee!!! Her lifelong passion was accessibility, and to honour that, a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Dee's life will occur in the spring when it is easier for all to travel. More details can be found on Dee's Facebook page. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com.
